my name is tommy fritz. my artwork and projects fall under the pseudonym "nostoc". thank you for stopping by :)
this website will forever be in progress as most things should be. i intend for it to change, grow and form naturally as i continue to learn to draw and use HTML. nothing will remain. my previous attempts at marketing myself and my artwork were consistently unfulfilling to my inner motivations and, in hindsight, were attempts to adhere to an internet that is structured around consumption and loss of agency. i want to own the tools that i use - to hammer out a creative existence in this world rather than submit to frameworks preconceived for me. i do not want to make art that is marketable, polished or for that matter, good. i want to share my art. to have a footprint somewhere in the collective ecosystem of humanity's attempts to pour the feelings caged behind symbols and language and our bodies into something that can be seen. all in all i want the larger, lifelong project of "the art i make" to be a bit of good fun. always i have wanted to make my friends laugh by something i made by picking up a pencil. there is nothing more serious and nothing more silly than drawing something.
with all this in mind, my website may appear to be messy and may be strange to navigate. this is in part intentional, to create a website detached from the norms of brand-modelled polish and marketability. But it is largely because i am very much an amateur at web development. i hope to make the messiness of the site become much more of an art experience as i continue to learn how to code so be sure to come back to check for updates!
